This shout-out is for an amazing CE team member, Elena Razmpoosh, Ariana (Kindergarten) & Kiana (Grade 5th) mother. Elena is an integral CE team member for both Kindergarten and Grade-5 and has shown incredible skills in organizing amazing field trips for both grades. Each field trip requires her to make arrangements with vendors, fill out BSD forms and keep teachers in communication, and her skill at executing these tasks are really commendable. Cherry Crest PTSA is proud of her and the value she brings to the community. Keep up the great work, Elena!

On Thursday March 23rd local author/illustrator Ellie Peterson will be presenting to all K-2 classrooms in three separate presentations in the library. We are lucky enough (thank you BSF!) to have Ellie two years in a row at our school.
|
Ellie often specializes in books that focus on science, including the topics of monarch butterflies, honeybees, our seasons and our planet earth. Some students will also experience an “Eat With Ellie” lunch in the library where they can find out more about what it’s really like to work as an author/illustrator and ask more in-depth questions. It was truly wonderful to see the excitement on the kids’ faces when entering the library and seeing all of the books set up and library turned into a rainbow of books, journals, posters, pens, etc. In addition, thanks to those of you who chose to purchase a PencilGram or round up your change at the register when purchasing. These proceeds benefit our BSD ‘sister school’ Sherwood Forest in the form of books for their library.

GEMS (Girls Embrace Math and Science) is a math and science competition for girls in the 3rd to 5th grade that will tentatively take place on March 25th, from 9AM to 4PM.
|
Participants learn to work with each other and approach difficult STEM concepts in a thoughtful, logical way. Activities include robotics, building marshmallow towers, listening to guest speakers in STEM fields, free pizza, and more!
