Boys Lacrosse Opportunity

Are you looking for a healthy outdoor activity for your child?  Lacrosse teams are forming now for the Spring season (starting March 15, 2021) of The Sammamish Interlake Youth Lacrosse Club for boys in grades 2-8. The season runs from March through June and the cost varies from $350-$500 depending on your child’s grade. An additional $95 game fee will be charged when games are allowed to proceed.

The Sammamish Interlake Youth Lacrosse Club serves elementary through middle school boys lacrosse players who live in the boundaries of Sammamish and Interlake High Schools.

An Update on Back To Buildings Plan

On Tuesday, January 26th, Superintendent Dr. Ivan Duran provided more details on the Bellevue School District’s “Back to Buildings Plan”. In particular, hybrid learners in Kindergarten, First and Second grades will be returning to buildings according to a specific schedule outlined in the letter. Please read Dr. Duran’s letter for more information.

Camp Kindness Counts

Camp Kindness Counts offers mid-winter break camps, Virtual Clubs and “Kind World Explorers” classes. The classes are weekly 40 minute group lessons (currently held over Zoom), focussing on 12 specific character strengths from the Kind World Explorers guidebook series. Our sessions help students reflect and share feelings, practice mindfulness techniques and focus on developing character strengths.

Travel Advisory

In compliance with Governor Inslee’s Travel Advisory (“Washingtonians are encouraged to stay home or in their region and avoid nonessential travel to other states or countries.”), the Bellevue School District reminds families that all students and staff participating in in-person learning, services, or activities who have traveled out of state, need to self-quarantine at home for 14-days after returning from their travels before coming back in person.

Communications Team Seeks WordPress Volunteer

We’re looking for someone with knowledge of PHP, and past experience navigating the world of Wordpress plugins and themes.

This volunteer will work with the communications team to simplify maintaining the PTSA website with embedded calendar, weekly newsletter and social media updates. Volunteer would take the lead on selecting most suitable plugins and configuring them, skills to contribute back back to open source plugins when they are close to meeting our needs would be especially helpful. Volunteer time ~4-6 hours a month.

Bellevue East Little League: Spring Registration

Bellevue East Little League is happy to announce the opening of their Spring Season registration for T-Ball, Baseball, and Softball for boys and girls between the ages 4-16. Tryouts will begin in February and baseball/softball will start in March (COVID guidelines permitting).

Principal Steere’s Return to In-Person Instruction Forum

On Thursday evening 1/7, Principal Steere hosted a Return to In Person Instruction Forum to share details about the return to buildings for primary (K-2) students beginning January 21.  The presentation slides and a meeting recording are now available on the Cherry Crest website for interested families.

On Friday January 15th, Mr. Steere and school nurse Amy Borberg will host a virtual principal chat focusing on additional details and safety measures related to the return to in person learning.  All families are welcome to join the virtual Teams meeting at 8:30 am.

Chess4Life After School Chess Club

Starting in February, Chess4Life will offer a winter Chess Club for Cherry Crest students. The cost is $160 for the 8-class session ($20 per student per class). The club will be held online Wednesdays from 1:00-2:00pm. Chess4Life will also offer a FREE demonstration class on February 3rd.
