About This Club

Join the Cherry Crest Spelling Bee!
Our annual Spelling Bee is a fun school tradition where students compete by spelling words aloud until a champion is named.

📅 Event Date:

    • Preliminary rounds: grouped by grade –November 4th 2026 at 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

    • Top spellers advance to the final – February 3rd 2027 – 8:30 pm

    • The Cherry Crest Champion will represent our school at the Regional Spelling Bee!

    The Spelling Bee is FREE for all participants and sponsored by the Cherry Crest PTSA (students must be PTSA members to participate).

How it Works

The Spelling Bee is open to students in grades 1-5.  All students can download & print the word list using the links below for self-study.  For additional tips and best practices, see the Helpful Tips section of this site.

At the preliminary round, all participants will be grouped by their grades. Top performers in each grade will enter the final round in Feb 2027. The Champion from the final round will represent Cherry Crest in the Regional Spelling Bee contest.

Spelling Bee is sponsored by Cherry Crest PTSA, and is free for participants!

VOLUNTEER

We will need many parents to help during preliminary rounds, especially parents with American speaking accents. Volunteer to be a word pronouncer, or a grade rep for the spelling bee.

 

PRELIMINARY ROUND

The first stage in spelling bee will reduce the number of participants to 5 spellers in each grade within their respective sections.  The number of first-round spellers who move forward will be finalized by end of December 2025.

Cherry Crest Spelling Wordlists

2026-2027 Spelling Bee word list (Please do not share links): Words Only |  Words and Definitions 
(NOTE: The three file links have the same set of words and are offered for families convenience.  During the preliminary Spelling Bee we will use the Spelling Bee words, definitions, and pronunciations list.) 
This year, all grades will have the same list of words. For the preliminary rounds, we suggest students to studen list “ONE BEE”. Preliminary rounds will go down the “ONE BEE” list in order. If students succeed through list “ONE BEE”, we will continue to “TWO BEE”.
