What is the PTSA?

PTSA stands for Parent Teacher Student Association.  We are a formal non-profit affiliated with State and National PTA.  For more than 100 years, National Parent Teacher Association (National PTA®) has worked toward bettering the lives of every child in education, health and safety. Today’s PTA is a network of millions of families, students, teachers, administrators, and business and community leaders devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of family engagement in schools. Discover the power of PTA at National PTA and Washington State PTA.

PTSA Standing Rules will be voted on in the First PTSA General Meeting held on September 27th.

PTSA President’ Welcome Back Letter

On behalf of the Cherry Crest PTSA, I want to welcome you to the ‘22-’23 school year. If you’re anything like me, you were probably figuring out lunches at the last minute and wiping away a tear or two (our tears, not our kids’) as you sent your child(ren) on their way to another year of growing up. And of course, the prerequisite first day of school pictures:).

We’re really excited about this upcoming school year and hope you are too!

The PTSA focuses on 3 pillars and you’ll continue to hear these themes in the activities and programs we’ll plan (sneak peek of upcoming events via the PTSA calendar):

  • Academic rigor and student excellence

  • Family connection and community

  • Health and well-being

From events like the Spelling Bee, Family Stem Night, Grade-level Dinners, a Used Book Fair, and much more – we hope to bring the community closer together and most importantly, enrich the experience of our students and families.

New this year, we are introducing grade-level PTSA ambassadors, who can help answer your questions and connect you with other families in your grade. They’re a great resource for new and veteran Cherry Crest families alike. If you are looking for volunteer opportunities and a way to make a difference in your child’s school, we’d love to hear from you. Thank you to all those who have already signed up to volunteer!

We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming school event and the general PTSA meeting on September 29th at 7pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and all members can vote.

If there’s anything we can help with, don’t hesitate to reach out. Welcome to the ‘22-’23 Cherry Crest School Year – it’s going to be great!
