REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM

GRADES:  K – 5

Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student program to encourage artistic creativity. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts.

This year’s theme is “I am Hopeful Because…”  Art categories are Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts

All submissions will be exhibited in the school and students can vote to pick the People’s Choice.

Reflections Program

A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. The six art areas are:

  • Literature – works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, short stories and lyrics.
  • Music Composition – original musical composition, with or without words.
  • Photography: color or black and white, included techniques: photogram, negative sandwich, and multiple exposure.
  • Visual Arts: drawing, painting in tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor & t-shirt paints, computer generated art, two-dimensional collage, printmaking, needlework & leather tooling.
  • Film/Video: original works, with or without sound, of animation, narrative, documentary, experimental or music video/film.
  • Choreography/Dance: originally choreographed dance composition.

The National PTA Reflections program supports student success and serves as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in the school community. Students with disabilities may receive special accommodation by entering the special artist division.

THEME

The theme for the 2023-2024 program year is “I am Hopeful Because…”

SUBMISSION

There are three parts of your submission packet:

  1. Completed Reflections entry form – printed.
  2. Typed up artist statement – printed.
  3. Original Artwork – if you are submitting literature, video/ film, please email it to reflections@cherrycrest-ptsa.org.  Artwork will be collected in the main lobby of Cherry Crest on Friday, November 17th 2-3 PM. Art will be displayed outside Cherry Crest Library during the book fair in December.
