REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM

VOTE FOR CHERRY CREST REFLECTIONS PEOPLE’S CHOICE: Artwork will be displayed December 6th through 8th at Cherry Crest during the book fair.  

Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student program to encourage artistic creativity. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the theme “Show Your Voice.”

A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. The six art areas are:

  • Literature – works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, short stories and lyrics.
  • Music Composition – original musical composition, with or without words.
  • Photography: color or black and white, included techniques: photogram, negative sandwich, and multiple exposure.
  • Visual Arts: drawing, painting in tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor & t-shirt paints, computer generated art, two-dimensional collage, printmaking, needlework & leather tooling.
  • Film/Video: original works, with or without sound, of animation, narrative, documentary, experimental or music video/film.
  • Choreography/Dance: originally choreographed dance composition.

The National PTA Reflections program supports student success and serves as a valuable tool for building strong partnerships in the school community. Students with disabilities may receive special accommodation by entering the special artist division.

Program Rules

  • The Art reflections program is an opportunity for cherry Crest students to showcase their talent in Dance Choreography, Film production, Literature, Music composition, Photography and Visual arts. One entry per category per child is acceptable (same child cannot submit two visual art entries). The formats for submission are available at wastatepta.org/reflections
  • Students may enter in the appropriate division for their grade (primary: preschool – 2nd grade, Intermediate: Grade 3-5, special artist: any grade) The Special Artist Division welcomes students from all grades and abilities and offers non-artistic accommodations (please email reflections@cherrycrest-Ptsa.org for special artist category restrictions)
  • Actual physical entries will be collected two Mondays, 14th and 21st of November 2022 at school 2-3 PM. Please also submit complete electronic versions by the Monday, November 21st by sending it to reflections@cherrycrest-Ptsa.org. If any student is unable to submit work these two days, please contact us and we will arrange to collect the art work.
  • We hope to have a Cherry Crest people choice vote and art display December 6-8 at the school. To learn more about the program and entry rules visit wastatepta.org/reflections

  • Reflections theme search is currently open till Nov 1 for a future year theme. Submit student entries here and you could win $100 if your child’s theme is the winning entry.

SUBMISSION

Links will be enabled soon. There are three steps to complete your submission:

  1. Completed Reflections entry form.
  2. Fill out the Cherry Crest google form & upload art, artist statement & the reflections form in appropriate formats.
  3. In person drop-off of submissions on November 14th and 21st for display at Cherry Crest during the book fair.
