Math Club Cherry Crest (MCCC) has one of the best records in elementary math competitions in Washington State. The PTSA is proud to offer all students in grades 2nd-5th an opportunity to join Math club this year as well.

By joining math club, students will not only be taught the math concepts needed for many of these competitions listed below, but also competition strategies, and meet other students in the math competition community. Along with this, math club gives students the opportunity to get to know many successful high school students with many years of competition math experience.
Math club is completely free and run entirely by parents and high school volunteers who hope to inspire younger students to continue being a part of the competition math community.
Math Club will meet online over TEAMS every Wednesday, starting October 25th, 1:30 – 2:15 for Class 1, and 2:15-2:45 for Class 2. Our first meeting will be on Wednesday October 25th.
Class number depends on grade level, Class 1 will be aimed at 4th and 5th graders, while Class 2 will be aimed at 2nd and 3rd graders. Class placement will be rather flexible, so please contact us if students wish to change classes. Everyone in 2nd grade and above is welcome to join if they are interested!
Competitions:
- AMC8 – Registration cost will be around $7.50
- MIC (Math is cool championships) – Registration is $60 per team (4 students), or $15 per student
Volunteering Math club needs help from parents in order to continue to support this thriving community of students.
We hope to have parent volunteers during the weekly meetings (Wednesday 1:30-2:15 for Class 1, 2:15-2:45 for Class 2) to help answer student questions, and to give coaches feedback.
Because high school students have AP season in May and finals in June, high school coaches will not be able to spend a lot of time running math club after mid-April. Since many math competitions are around that time, like MIC and MMT, we would really appreciate parent volunteers to take over lectures, I personally recommend just going over math problems for these upcoming competitions, more logistics of this can be discussed later.
Parent volunteers are needed to proctor AMC8, we are not allowed to host AMC8 if there aren’t enough parent proctors, more info on this TBD.
