Going on Vacation? Submit the Pre-arranged absences form

Going on Vacation? It is expected that families will schedule their vacations and activities to coincide with the school calendar. We understand that some absences cannot be rescheduled or prevented from overlapping with school. Nonetheless, absences for vacations, sports tournaments, dance competitions, family travel, trips of a lifetime, etc. must be prearranged and approved to be considered excused under district policies (BSD Policy 3122, Procedure 3122P https://bit.ly/3dnFZzI).

You can download a copy of the prearranged absence form directly from our school’s website: https://bsd405.org/cherrycrest/report-an-absence/ or pick up a copy in the main office. We ask that you submit the form at least 2 weeks in advance to allow time for review by the teacher, and approval from the Assistant Principal. Email cherrycrestattendance@bsd405.org with any questions.

Classroom Volunteers Needed

Cherry Crest Teachers through the PTSA would like to ask any parents interested in volunteering in the classrooms to please fill  in the Classroom Volunteer Form.

Please fill in this form if you’d like to volunteer for regular classroom opportunities or plan to volunteer for field trips or special events.

A Reminder about Pre-Arranged Absences

With the holidays approaching, remember that Bellevue School District allows each student 5 pre-arranged absences (PRA) per year. These are excused absences to use for a travel day, a sport or dance competition or longer trip.

If your child will only be missing one or two days, please email cherrycrestattendance@bsd405.org.

If your child will be missing 3 or more days, please submit a pre-arranged absence form at least 2 weeks prior to your trip.

Thank you for including your child’s full name when emailing for any attendance related matters!

Volunteer Request: After-School Chair

The After-School Chair will work with School Secretary, Kathy Bessler, to determine which after-school programs are offered at Cherry Crest.  We have many established vendors but the goal is to match student and parent needs with offerings.  Programs are typically offered in fall, winter and spring.  Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per season

Staff Appreciation for November – 5th Grade

Each month one grade level of Cherry Crest families show appreciation for our outstanding educators by providing food and beverages for all teachers and staff. Most items can be sent in with your student to be dropped off in the Main Office.

Parents of 5th Graders: November is your month! Sign up to participate https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e044aa8a92fa4fd0-november3. Thank you for helping us continue this tradition of gratitude. Questions? E-mail staffappreciation@cherrycrest-ptsa.org

Volunteers needed for Curriculum Enhancement: Kindergarten and 3rd Grades

The PTSA Curriculum Enhancement (CE) Team is looking for one or two volunteers to help plan grade-level activities for Kindergarten or 3rd Grade classes.

All CE activities are teacher-driven. The CE Committee meets with grade level teaching teams throughout the year to identify those opportunities that enhance the students’ curriculum and provide a valuable overall learning experience. Grade-level CE Coordinators work to support the teachers by researching, coordinating and scheduling these activities. No prior experience necessary.

CE activities are funded entirely by Cherry Crest PTSA fundraiser events such as the upcoming Read-a-thon. If you are interested in this fun opportunity to be a part of your students’ learning, please contact Monica Li (ce@cherrycrest-ptsa.org).
