Ready. . .Set. . .Read! Read-a-thon Starts Wednesday

Lunch with Principal Mr. Steere! Book selected by librarian Ms. Lux! These are some of the exciting prizes students can win by participating in the Read-a-thon.

The Read-a-thon is the first major Cherry Crest PTSA fundraiser of the school year. Students set reading goals, raise donations, read from November 24th to 28th (Thanksgiving break), and win exciting prizes! The details:

Reflections Entries Due Wednesday, November 17th

Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2021/22 theme:

“I will change the World by. . . .”

Entries will be collected virtually on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021. If your student is unable to submit work this way, contact us and we will arrange to collect the art work.

Math Club Cherry Crest

Math Club Cherry Crest (MCCC) has one of the best records in elementary math competitions in Washington State. The PTSA is proud to offer all students in grades 3rd-5th an opportunity to join Math club this year as well.

Students will form teams and attend many competitions from the following list:

1. Math Is Cool
2. KPMT
3. AMC8
4. Math Olympiad (MOEMS)

High School Volunteers Offer Reading Buddies Program for K-1 Students

A group of local high school students are continuing their work as virtual Reading Buddies this school year – this time with both Kindergarteners and 1st graders!

Each Wednesday they host a Microsoft Teams meeting from 3:00-4:00pm to read with our students. This will include a read-aloud, discussion and comprehension questions, virtual activities like “I Spy,” and small group connection time with other students.

SJCC “Hands on Hanukkah” Family Programming

The Stroum Jewish Community Center has created some wonderful Hanukkah programming at locations across the Eastside for families this year! 

SJCC has created a series of FREE pop up events, called “Hands on Hanukkah.” SJCC Staff will be at six different locations throughout the Seattle area to celebrate the holiday with arts and crafts and tasty treats for children of all ages. We invite families of all faiths to join us and learn about the miracle of Hanukkah!

·       Family Night at Redmond Lights on Dec 3rd at 5:30pm
·       Temple B’Nai Torah on Dec 4th from 12-2pm

Sammamish High School Holiday Poinsettia and Wreath Sale

Each fall, the Sammamish High School Senior Parents sponsor a Holiday Poinsettia and Wreath Sale. These make wonderful gifts for family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. All proceeds benefit the current senior class & their graduation events!

BSD Covid Testing Guidelines and Nurse News

COVID-19 screening and diagnostic testing is coming to Bellevue School District schools by November 5, 2021.

You will receive communication from your school with the date, location and time that diagnostic and pooled surveillance testing will begin at your school.

Children’s Masks Needed

Students are using a large quantity of disposable masks supplied by the school.  Please remember to send your child to school with a mask every day and include a spare in your child’s backpack. 

Please also consider donating a box of disposable children’s masks to your classroom and/or the front office.  Thank you for supporting the health of our community!

PTSA General Meeting is Tuesday, Nov 9 at 7:00pm
