2026 Family Engineering Night
Brought to you by the
Cherry Crest Elementary PTSA
in partnership with the school, the much beloved
Family Engineering Night
for the 2026-27 school year is on
November 13, 2026
! This year, families will dive into
hands-on STEM challenges
and
interactive stations
, meet and learn from
robotics teams
, and
code different robots
and
programs
. Families will explore:
Coding, Robotics & Circuitry:
Navigating beginner-friendly directional paths with Bee-Bots, solving tile-based color-coding paths with Sphero indi bots, programming interactive LEGO Education SPIKE Essential models, and turning everyday objects into touchpads with Makey-Makey circuit boards.
Structural & Materials Engineering:
Testing load capacity, structural reinforcement, waterproofing barriers, and building stable marshmallow towers.
Acoustical & Electrical Engineering:
Investigating sound-dampening insulation and building spinning ballerinas powered by electromagnetism.
Aerodynamics & Aerospace:
Designing prototypes to test gravity, drag forces, and surface area.
Industrial Engineering & Communication:
Simulating assembly line efficiencies and navigating technical design specifications through verbal teamwork.
Biomedical & Mechanical Design:
Crafting moving mechanisms with simple levers and building prosthetic “grabber” hands under specific design constraints.
Bring the whole family from
5:30pm to 7:30pm
to explore engineering concepts and engage in the engineering design process together. Please note that this is a parent-supervised event; parents must stay with their children. We are seeking donations (
Amazon Whishlist
) to help make this event possible. Please donate by 10/31!
