We are so excited to welcome all the parents and students back to Cherry Crest!

Highlights this week:

One of the many ways that the PTSA helps make Cherry Crest a great elementary is helping bring Curriculum Enhancement events to classrooms throughout the year. We are looking for 1-2 parent volunteers for Kindergarten and 3rd Grade to help coordinate directly with teachers of those grades to identify and schedule these events. See this week’s news post for details!

Although on-site after-school activities have been put on hold this year, we will help keep you informed of local kids activities as we hear about them in our Community Bulletin. This Tuesday at 6:30pm there will be an information session about K-5 Cub Scouts under the covered area of the school.

In addition to Curriculum Enhancement, PTSA manages this website, a weekly newsletter the Charger Chatter, and manages the School Directory. We are always looking for volunteers, and are in particular need of a volunteer for this year’s co-president, and co-editor of this website. Open positions will be posted to our Volunteer Needs page and the Charger Chatter throughout the year.

Seeking Delegates for Legislative Assembly

Cherry Crest PTSA is looking for 3 more members to represent us as voting delegates at the Virtual Washington State PTA Legislative Assembly on October 23-24.  Please send in your name to president@cherrycrest-ptsa.org before Oct 10, 2021, if interested.

Listen, learn, and lend your voice to issues important to your family!

Want to learn more, but not interested in being a voting delegate? All PTSA members are invited to register and attend online. The cost is $40.00. Not a PTA member yet? Join the Cherry Crest PTSA today and register to attend the Assembly!

Instead, the school will provide all basic school supplies through the year. Your child’s teacher may make individual requests for unique or nonstandard items.

While not mandatory, students in Grade 2 and Grade 5 may wish to bring some of the suggested personal items (not shared with other students) listed at in this article on the BSD Cherry Crest Website: https://bsd405.org/cherrycrest/2021/08/supply-lists/

The BSD Transportation Department reminds you to please exercise patience during drop-off and pick-up times at our schools and bus routes. Families may be experiencing bus arrival and departure delays at various stops because of the increased volume of drivers to our schools. We are working through the increase in traffic while studying the traffic patterns and adjusting as needed. Your patience during this process is appreciated.

Remember to sign up for the Edulog Parent Portal, which is a bus tracking program to notify parents and students of bus delays.
