FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DOES THE ONLINE AUCTION WORK?

Once you register on the auction website, you will have access to dozens of web pages in the auction item catalog, each one describing an item or experience that has been donated to auction. At any moment, there is a price associated with each item – if you want the item, you click the “bid” button corresponding to the price you’re willing to pay, and your choice is recorded and shown on the page. Each item also has a “closing time” associated with it, after which no more bids are accepted. Over time, the price to win an item rises as people compete to submit higher bid prices, right up until the closing time – for each item on the website, if your bid price is the highest at the closing time, you win it!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BID ITEM AND A SIGN UP ITEM?

A “bid” item is one that will be won by the bidder willing to pay the highest price. In rare cases, an item may be won by the highest two bidders – make sure to read the full description for details. You “win” a bid item if you have indicated that you are willing to pay the highest price at the time that the auction closes at 10pm PST Saturday, April 25th.

A “sign-up” item is one for which there are a limited number of spots available at a fixed price and the first person (or persons if multiple spots are available) to sign up wins the item. The winner(s) are determined on a first come first served basis and is independent of the closing time of the auction. 

HOW WILL I GET THE ITEMS I WIN AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES?

The auction team will be in contact with you after bidding closes to coordinate how to get items that you’ve won to you. If it is possible for you to pick up the item within the Cherry Crest neighborhood, that will be the fastest option. For small items like gift cards, we may be able to arrange to mail the items directly to you. Please email auction@cherrycrest-ptsa.org with any questions or concerns you have about receiving your items.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

All friends of Cherry Crest are welcome!  Feel free to invite spouses, grandparents, friends, or neighbors – anyone who wants to support our school and have the chance to bid on amazing items and experiences – remember, registration is free!

DO I HAVE TO BUY SOMETHING?

Absolutely not!  You are under no obligation to bid on or buy anything during the auction, and there is no cost to register. If you do plan on bidding, keep in mind there is something for every budget – starting as low as $10! Be sure to check out the auction item catalog for items you won’t want to miss!
