About This Club

Join the Cherry Crest Spelling Bee!
Our annual Spelling Bee is a fun school tradition where students compete by spelling words aloud until a champion is named.

📅 Event Date:

  • Preliminary rounds: grouped by grade –November 5, 2025 at 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

  • Top spellers advance to the final – February 11, 2026 at 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

  • The Cherry Crest Champion will represent our school at the Regional Spelling Bee!

The Spelling Bee is FREE for all participants and sponsored by the Cherry Crest PTSA (students must be PTSA members to participate).

👕 Optional: Spelling Bee t-shirts available—proceeds support Cherry Crest programs like essential classroom supplies, extra helping hands at the school, free field trips, and future events.

How it Works

The Spelling Bee is open to students in grades 1 -5.  All students can download & print the word list using the links below for self-study.  For additional tips and best practices, see the Helpful Tips section of this site.

At the preliminary round, all participants will be grouped by their grades. Top performers in each grade will enter the final round in Feb 2026. The Champion from the final round will represent Cherry Crest in the Regional Spelling Bee contest.

Spelling Bee is sponsored by Cherry Crest PTSA, and is free for participants!

Duration: October 6, 2025 – December 6, 2025
Eligible Grades: 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 5th Grade
Location: Cherry Crest – TBC rooms

VOLUNTEER

We will need many parents to help during preliminary rounds, especially parents with American speaking accents. Volunteer here to be a word pronouncer, or a grade rep for the spelling bee.

PRELIMINARY ROUND

The first stage in spelling bee will reduce the number of participants to 5 spellers in each grade within their respective sections.  The number of first-round spellers who move forward will be finalized by end of December 2025.
