The Auction is one of just three major annual events put on by your Cherry Crest PTSA to raise much-needed funds for enhancing the educational experience of each and every child at our school (see here for more).  And it’s meant to be FUN!  Join friends, family, parents, teachers, and staff as we celebrate with games, raffles, Silent and Live Auctions, moving presentations, and fabulous food and drink – all for a great cause!  This year represents the school’s 50th anniversary and we have some special things planned you won’t want to miss!  Curious about exactly what to expect?  See our FAQ section below for more!

5:30 PM | Cocktail Reception & Silent Auction
6:45 PM | Seated Dinner & Live Auction

Hilton Bellevue

Bellevue Grand Ballroom, 1st Floor
Free parking in Hilton parking lot

There are two levels to the hotel entrance – our event is on the lower level (1st floor).  If you enter on the upper level (3rd floor/lobby) take the elevator or stairs down to the 1st floor.

Every year the auction is made up of valuable items and experiences donated by our wonderfully generous Cherry Crest families and local businesses – do you have something to contribute?  We also have several positions to fill with enthusiastic volunteers – no experience needed!  Finally, we need local businesses interested in being sponsors in exchange for valuable exposure to the Cherry Crest community!  Visit our detailed page on How to Help for more!

Tickets go on sale in February!  Each admission ticket includes unlimited passed appetizers, a complimentary drink from the bar, participation in the Silent and Live Auction events, and a 3-course plated dinner.

Please leave your little ones at home – the auction is an adults-only event.  Beyond that, all friends of Cherry Crest are welcome!  Feel free to bring spouses, grandparents, friends, or neighbors – anyone who wants to support our school and have a fun night doing it!

There is no formal dress code – we want you to be comfortable and have fun!  Some people like to take the opportunity to dress up a little – you will definitely see some men in suits and ties and women in gowns.  And some people want to celebrate our colorful community with festive clothing – we encourage you to wear something unique from your culture or heritage if you’d like to!  But if jeans and a nice shirt are more your speed, that’s absolutely welcome – come in what you’re most comfortable with!

When you first arrive you will see dozens of “bidding sheets” laid out across several tables in the reception area, each one describing an item or experience that has been donated to auction.  Each sheet will have a number of blank lines with an escalating list of prices the item could sell for – if you want the item, you “bid” to win it by simply writing your name on the line corresponding to the price you’re willing to pay.  The silent auction time is a great chance to grab a drink, mingle, chat with friends, and stroll around looking for a good deal!  Over this time, the price to win each item can rise as people compete to fill in higher bid price lines, right up until the auctioneer announces a countdown to the table “closing” – for each item on the table, if your bid price is the highest at the time the table closes, you win it!

Once all the silent auction tables are closed, we will move from the reception area into the banquet room to find our seats for the dinner and live auction phase of the evening.  In this phase, the auctioneer will individually present a smaller number of more unique, interesting, or higher-valued items and experiences to bid on one at a time.  For each one, he will name a starting price, and anyone who wants to buy the item for that price raises their “bid card” (with their unique identifying bid number) to indicate they want it.  If more than one person wants it, the auctioneer offers a new, higher price to see how many people are willing to pay the higher price.  This continues until only one bidder is left at the final price – they win the item!

Absolutely not!  You are under no obligation to bid on or buy anything during the evening.  Everybody in the Cherry Crest community is encouraged to come out and show their support just by attending this entertaining evening of food, drink, and mingling – help build our community simply by meeting up with old friends or making some new ones!  If you do plan on bidding, keep in mind there is something for every budget – starting at as little as $10 among the silent auction items all the way up to a thousand dollars or more for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in the live auction!
