Bridle Trails State Park – Public Lands Day – October 1st

A fun opportunity to give back to this treasured park with friends & family!

Together we’ll remove invasives displacing native understory plants and trees in our 482-acre park.

WE’LL MEET IN THE EVENT/PICNIC AREA AT 9AM SHARP for directions, coffee, cocoa, and donuts before we head out in teams to tackle and take down some unwelcome visitors in the park: English Holly, English Ivy, Laurel, and European Mountain Ash.

The Foundation will provide all tools and have gloves on hand (children sizes too), but if you’ve got a favorite pair, be sure to bring them.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED so that we can prioritize and maximize our work plan for the morning and (very important), to ensure that we’ve got enough donuts!

Event is rain or shine!

SCOUT GROUPS: We’ve got plenty of fun and kid friendly work and would love to have you join us!

Please contact us at scouts@bridletrails.org if you would like to register a group.

OLDER SCOUTS: In conjunction with this National Public Lands Day Stewardship Event, we’re excited to expand the stewardship piece with a 3.5 mile self-led trail adventure in the afternoon focusing on the park’s forest ecosystem and threats that it faces. Trail discoveries will support GSA Eco Trekker badge work and BSA Invasive Species badge work.

If interested in this extended scout opportunity, please contact us at scouts@bridletrails.org so that we can prepare materials for your trail adventures!

Please note that this is not a drop-off event. Scouts must be accompanied by an adult or follow their scout/adult safety ratios, bring own water bottle and snacks, and earned official badges or achievements are not included.

As a thank you for assisting in the care of the park, we’ve got Bridle Trails Park Foundation 20th Anniversary t-shirts for participants!
